Shungite: How to Prepare the Spa Quality Mineral Water for your Health and Beauty

Glass of shungite waterShungite is one of the most ancient minerals found on Earth. It is related to diamonds but unlike any other carbon minerals, shungite has a unique molecular structure. Its molecules are spherical, similar to soccer ball. Shungite molecules are called fullerenes. Naturally found minerals with fullerenes are quite rare, and synthetic fullerenes cost nearly a thousand dollars per gram and are used in space technologies and medicine.

Karelian shungite is more than 2 billion years old. It is uniquely high in fullerenes – more so than any other mineral found on Earth.

What is so special about shungite?

Shungite is a natural molecular filter. Upon contact with water it charges its molecular structure and activates the water making it more biologically available. Fullerenes in the water become a strong and bioavailable antioxidant as they are carried with water to all body organs.

Water charged with shungite appears to have a strong anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving activity. It has a proven anti-bacterial and anti-histamine (anti-allergenic) effect. Thanks to its unique molecular activity, shungite-filtered water is beneficial in various health conditions.

When consumed internally, shungite water helps recuperate after gastritis, colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, and kidney disease. Shungite water helps restore wellbeing in chronic tiredness syndrome and is helpful during flu epidemics.

What’s truly remarkable about shungite water is its beauty rejuvenating effect. Shungite rinses and sprays are very helpful in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, skin burns, and eczema. Ice packs prepared with shungite water help restore skin tone and relieve puffiness and edema. Hair rinses prepared with shungite water help get rid of dandruff and may even speed up hair growth. You can also place shungite stones into the bath to enjoy relief from itchiness, dry skin, and dermatitis. After the rinse or a bath you can reuse the water to nourish your plants. Animals like shungite water, too.

Even if you are lucky enough to have excellent health, glowing skin, and strong hair, you can still enjoy shungite water for its pure taste and even purer composition. Being a naturally excellent sorbent, shungite removes up to 95% of water impurities, including heavy metals, colloidal iron and lead from water pipes, nitrates and nitrites, pesticides, dioxins, phenols, chlorine salts, petrochemicals, viruses, bacteria, and fungi. At the same time, shungite enriches the water with organic minerals and fullerenes which have natural bactericidal activity.

How to use

Before the first use rinse the stones with tap water for 3-5 minutes. Place the stones into the glass container (I use glass bottles from mineral water such as Perier and St Bernardino) and fill your bottles with cold tap water. Leave the water in a dark place for 2-3 days. Use the water for drinking (1-2 cups a day), face and hair rinses, and baths. Do not boil the shungite water and do not use it for cooking.

As shungite stones absorb water impurities, they may become mottled and slimy. Rinse them well with cold tap water until it runs clear and reuse.

Replace the shungite pack after 3-6 months of use, depending on how frequently you refill the water container.
